Hello, book nerds!
The last midnight book release party I attended was for Breaking Dawn way back in 2008 when I was about 12-years-old. It was so long ago now that my memories of the event are pretty fuzzy, but I definitely remember coming home around 1am and falling asleep to the sight of my new book on my nightstand. I picked it up as soon as I awoke the next morning and read the whole thing in about three days.
I think 12-year-old me would’ve loved 28-year-old me.
When people say that adulthood is really just going back to the things we loved as children, but now without shame and with money, they’re correct.
Anyway, the event was so much fun. I didn’t have a plus one, but I dressed up anyway and decided to make some new friends (which is not hard to do when we’re all there out of love for the same thing!).
There were probably a hundred people in all, and there were a lot of fun activities. We had three rounds of trivia (the parapet, the threshing, and war games — I died during threshing), a coloring station, giveaways, a costume contest, raffles, and of course, so many books. The coffee shop next door was open for the event and had themed drinks, too! A new friend also gave me some bead bracelets.
Plus, a friend won a giveaway for a signed copy!
I had a blast. I somehow managed to resist pulling an all-nighter to start reading right away, but I tell you what, I woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed despite the late night and started on Iron Flame right away. If I’m not done in time for a Thursday review this week, it’s definitely coming next week.

How fun! I just love it. Makes reading the book even more fun! Like a prerequisite. 🙂
